Gathered Moments began with a simple belief shared by Brenda and Nick: the photographs and stories that connect us deserve to be gathered with care, protected with respect, and preserved for the people who treasure them most.
A friendship that lasted a lifetime
A gathered beginning
“Two men meeting for the first time, with no idea yet what their friendship would become.”
This photograph captured the first meeting between my father and Marques Haynes of the Harlem Globetrotters. What began with this handshake became a remarkable friendship that lasted until the day my father passed away. Their friendship had nothing to do with fame or recognition. They were simply two men who genuinely loved and respected one another—friends who would have done anything for each other.
Neither of them could have known when this photograph was taken what that first handshake would begin. But I do.
